Our authentic connections to one another sustain us as human beings. Often past harm or invalidation make us further disconnected from ourselves and each other. By moving beyond binaries created and sustained by capitalism and other constructs of oppression, I pathologize systems and not people. I work to create an environment that affirms a person’s complete humanity with a sense of compassion and free from judgments or imposed expectations.
By supporting self-determination, personal goals, establishing a secure relationship that validates your whole self, we will work together to create a fulfilling life on your own terms beyond the binaries of gender and rigid societal expectations. In my practice, I incorporate Motivational Interviewing, Relational Cultural Feminist Theory, Psychodynamic theory, and third wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapy methods. Prior to earning a Master’s in Social Work, I was a high school teacher for eleven years. I have experience working with adolescents and members of the LGBTQIA community who are experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety, and gender dysphoria. As we work to establish secure and affirming relationships, we have the ability to embrace our authentic selves and the numerous possibilities of transformation.
